Here at the Bioluminescent Superbugs Lab, we apply our glowing bacteria to understand how superbugs cause disease and to find new antibiotics to kill them. We welcome enquiries from prospective students and research fellows who are eligible to apply for independent funding, and are open to undergraduate students spending their summer with us performing a small research project and gaining experience in a laboratory environment.

Current projects are focused on three main areas:

  • Speeding up drug discovery for the lung disease tuberculosis (TB)
  • Understanding how bacteria evolve to cause disease
  • Applying the 3Rs to superbug infection models
